As I am trying to write something in my blog each week, I am sharing a bit of creative writing I did a good few years ago. It’s kind of cheating I know. However, as part of the purpose for me writing a public blog is to release what is within me, this seems still in keeping with that purpose.
I wrote this maybe six years ago when a group of us were encouraged to express our personal journeys with God in some creative way. I had never written anything like this before but the words just came and seemed to flow out of me. It was written while I still lived in Aberdeen, the “silver city” it references, and makes me think that maybe there is more to add onto it in the future. We’ll see what comes…
Dedicated at birth
A child’s heart opened
In youth recommitted
Drums roll, distant bagpipes sound
Misty hills, a heather breeze
A heart aches, longs
Restless search for the wave’s crest
Land of heat and cattle
Transforming revelations
His dreams, my dreams – one
Celtic lands and ancient paths call
New heart friends – ‘C’mon!’ they cry
Vision in a foreign land – it’s time
His dreams, my dreams – one
A silver city – dreams becoming
